Cycling jersey for WYŚCIG by Tomasz Marczyński

Wyścig is a cycling event for amateurs and enthusiasts, organized by Tomasz Marczyński since 2021. The first edition took place in Niepołomice, and this year, Tomek invites participants to join in four different editions — offering a chance to challenge themselves in both road cycling and gravel disciplines.

Each year, a unique, one-of-a-kind jersey design is created by an artist personally selected by Tomek. This year, I had the opportunity to design my own jersey pattern, which will be awarded to participants across all of this season’s editions of Wyścig.
The main theme of the design is the road — more precisely: fragments of routes taken from a .gpx file recording this year's stages of the WYŚCIG Race. The color palette draws inspiration from the event's official colors. Today, nearly every cyclist relies on a navigation device. While riding, we often glance at the screen — the route line etches itself into our subconscious, blending with the images of passing landscapes. We feel like we remember everything… but can we truly recreate it?

Without photos, all we are left with is memory and mindfulness. For some, it’s a beautiful mountain loop that lingers in the mind. For others, a steep climb with a breathtaking view, or the battle against headwinds on a long, straight road. Each person will remember the same route in their own unique way. This jersey is a tribute to those personal memories.
